Today’s Nudist

September 24th, 2007

A recent article published by the AANR laments that the average age of its members now trump the fifty-year mark. All too evident, particularly when perusing more traditional websites and forums dedicated to “nudists,” is the fact that participation by the young is declining.

But what of the spirit of body freedom? The Internet now boasts over two million websites relating to nudism (of course most of it is porn). Can we decipher meaning from this statistic? Only that nudity is as popular as ever, and surfers looking for “soft nudity” have discovered an outlet in nudist-themed websites.

In fact, while membership in traditional nudist clubs and organizations is declining, the popularity of “being nude” in communal evironments (or alone in the woods, if you like), is greater than ever, and growing. Why not? Being nude is wholesome and healthy, and also titillating and sensual. It’s all of this and more–why constict it’s popularity to clubs and ranches way the hell of the way?

Nudist In The Woods

The fact that more people are hanging out in the nude is nothing new to you if you own a hot tub or sauna, have traveled to Europe or the Caribbean lately, or are thirty or younger. If you were born in 1975, you’ve had thirty-five years of open discussion on sex, liberated parents (in some cases too liberated!), and nudity on TV and in films. Why think any thing extraordinary is going on if you’re naked and you’re not alone?

Nudism At Home: Nudist Life doesn't end at the beach

So while traditional nudism may be waning, more people than ever before are becoming comfortable sharing quality time in the nude. We purport to offer the photographic evidence, and in abundance.

I wish we could see more documentation of people just hanging out nude, like hot tubbing. Your site seems to be in tune with the times. I like your ideas.
